Docs Ireland: Hands
Docs Ireland presents two episodes of the classic Irish folklore and craft series, Hands.
Join us at the Ulster Folk Museum for a special screening of Hands – the seminal RTÉ series on traditional Irish crafts first broadcast in the 1970s.
The programmes have since gathered a cult following in part due to their unique, contemplative tempo. Hands captures ways of Irish life being lost - we can sadly add this style of filmmaking too.
Irish Embroidery – The narrator of this episode and former curator of the museum, Linda Ballard, will be introducing the film.
Wexford Thatcher – introduced by participants of the Future for Thatch project, a training programming aimed at young people to learn the craft of thatching.
Free with General Admission to the Ulster Folk Museum.
For ticket information go to Ulster Folk Museum website.
Thanks to RTÉ Archives for their support of this screening.
