Docs Ireland presents Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial vs. That's the Weight of the World) (2026).
Hot off the heels of Summer of Soul and SLY LIVES!, director Questlove returns with another film examining the history and legacy of black music in the United States, this time turning his focus to Earth, Wind & Fire.
The band’s initial sound was described as a mix of afro-gospel-jazz-blues-rock. They experimented with a lot more in the ensuing years before eventually defining the disco sound with songs like ‘Let’s Groove Tonight’.
Founded by the visionary Maurice White, the film tracks the fractious yet fruitful history of the band through its many iterations, line-ups and musical styles.
