Docs Ireland presents Displace: The Battle For Dublin (2026), followed by a Q&A with director James Redmond.

As the city shifts beneath their feet, communities of all kinds endure the trauma of developer-led change, yet slowly rediscover their collective power as they refuse to be pushed out.

Filmed over four years across kitchen tables, protests, and public meetings, this documentary follows a city fighting for itself while a broken property market chews up its citizens for profit.

From evicted tenants to artists without studios, from market traders to mothers living in overcrowded accommodation, as well as a generation trapped in their parents’ box rooms, the film follows an emerging movement demanding justice, housing, and dignity.

Though rooted in Dublin, this urgent city symphony exposes global forces at work: a financialised property system reshaping cities everywhere, treating homes as assets and people as obstacles.

Filmmaker James Redmond will take part in a discussion on housing issues after the film.
