THIS WAY UP /Film Hub North West Central is seeking an individual or organisation with the appropriate knowledge and expertise to undertake comprehensive monitoring and evaluation for THIS WAY UP 2015, an exhibition innovation conference produced by three of the BFI Film
Audience Network Hubs Scotland, North West Central and North. The conference is produced each year with the second edition taking place at HOME Manchester on 2 3 December 2015.

The aim of this evaluation is to ensure that THIS WAY UP is impactful for its key stakeholders,
including delegates, speakers and participants. We expect the evaluation will allow us to continually
improve THIS WAY UP through to next year’s edition in December 2016, including making
recommendations on suggested changes and highlighting key successes.

The objectives of the evaluation are to:
● Assess the overall impact of THIS WAY UP including preevent
data collection to identify
delegate expectations, live duringevent
evaluation and post conference analysis.
● Provide ongoing assessment of the impact and reach of THIS WAY UP, measuring the
progress towards key objectives, including a model for monitoring delegate satisfaction and
working with the project management team to ensure collection of the correct data during
the conference.
● Evaluating the processes of THIS WAY UP, including the effectiveness of the organisation
and delivery of the conference, partners’ and participants’ engagement, and making
recommendations for future editions.
● Provide a full evaluation report with executive summary to share with key stakeholders.
The chosen applicant will have experience of evaluating cultural events and be able to commit to
preparation and Manchester based meetings in advance of the conference, and full attendance at
THIS WAY UP on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 December. The THIS WAY UP Management
Team are keen to invite responses that look at evaluation in an innovative and flexible way.

5pm. Candidates will be notified by Tuesday 3 November and should be available for a phone
interview on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 November. We expect the successful candidate to
begin working on the project from Monday 9 November.

Expected timeline of delivery:
The individual or organisation will be expected to work over the two days of the conference (23
December 2015), with additional days in the preceding weeks meeting the management team
and creating an evaluation framework, plus at least two days compiling the evaluation report,
due at the end of January 2016. In total, we estimate the amount of time to be 8 days.
